Oberseminar Stochastik: Dr. Alexander Van Werde (Universität Münster): Spectral characterization of graphs and random abstract-algebraic objects

Spectral graph theory is the discipline studying what properties of a graph can be deduced from the eigenvalues of associated matrices. One may wonder how far o...

Dawid Kotowski (Uni Münster): Deep Orthogonal Decomposition for surrogate modelling of time-dependent PDEs

We investigate data-driven surrogates for parametric, time-dependent PDEs based on Deep Orthogonal Decomposition (DOD). On the theory side, we extend the data-d...

Oberseminar Differentialgeometrie: Sigmundur Gudmundsson (Lund University Sweden) Vortrag: Eight-Dimensional Hermitian Lie Groups Conformally Foliated by Minimal SU(2)xSU(2)-Leaves

Harmonic morphisms are maps $\phi:(M,g)\to (N,h)$ between Riemannian manifolds pulling back harmonic functions on N to harmonic functions on M. They have a non...

Zixuan Zhu: Rank and Independence for imaginaries in proper pairs of ACF.

In 2007, Pillay gave a geometric description for the imaginaries in proper pairs of ACF. Based on this result, we are able to define an totally additive rank wh...

Tea Seminar: Prof. Markus Stroppel (University Stuttgart):

For a topological group G, let Aut(G) be the group of all automorphisms, and let w(G) be the number of orbits of Aut(G) on G. I will report about results characterizing classes of groups G with suitable (topological or algebraic) assumptions on G, combined with bounds on w(G). In particular, there are strong results in the following cases: * G is locally compact and connected, with w(G) less than the cardinality of the continuum * G is compact, and w(G) is finite * G is finite, and w(G) < 5
