Abstract: I will explain joint work in progress with Mike Hopkins in which we determine the motives of (certain) motivic Eilenberg--MacLane spaces. I will then sketch how we use this to "re-do Wilson's thesis in the motivic setting". In other words, we determine the integral motives of the spaces in MGL, i.e., we establish Hopkins' "Wilson space hypothesis".
