Ceci n'est pas une guitare: Reflections and artistic practices on an ontogenesis of the Instrument

This dissertation proposes a conception of the guitar as an agencement of heterogeneous relations among human and nonhuman elements. Situated within contemporary concert music, it examines the instrument without assuming a single hegemonic program. Drawing on the philosophical perspectives of Deleuze and Guattari, Bruno Latour, Bernard Stiegler, and other authors, it challenges established understandings of the instrument. The dissertation is structured in three parts: a theoretical reflection on the guitar; analytical studies of selected repertoire; and an artistic practice developed as a collective and experimental process in dialogue with the theoretical and analytical investigations. Ultimately, it argues that the guitar should be understood as an open space of transformation and continuous reconfiguration, whose forms emerge through heterogeneous networks of relations rather than fixed identities.
