Ceremonial farewell for our PhD graduate in Business Chemistry, Dr André Hemmelder

The official graduation ceremony took place on 10 October, attended by colleagues, family, and friends. With this achievement, André becomes the 76th proud alumnus of our institute director, Prof. Jens Leker.

André's research in data analytics for energy strategy and innovation has been both impressive and inspiring. Using advanced patent analysis and large language models, he uncovered technology leadership patterns and geostrategic competition in future battery technologies and mapped critical knowledge interdependencies between lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery chemistries. His findings provide valuable insights that can inform industrial policy strategies in the global energy transition.

Beyond his outstanding research excellence, André has been a true asset to our team—always ready to collaborate, share ideas, and support others. His team spirit, analytical rigor, and positive energy have made a real difference in business chemistry at the University of Münster.
