In collaboration with GIZ, DAAD will start a new project in Brazil: the German-Brazilian Research Cooperation Program (NoPA) – DAAD, which represents a new edition of a cooperation project that has been particularly successful in Brazil for many years and by which DAAD has fostered various university cooperations.

In a recently planned initiative, DAAD will again launch calls for university cooperations in October 2022 under the title "German-Brazilian Research Cooperation in the Energy Sector NoPa 2.0". In the upcoming DAAD call for proposals, suitable cooperation partners are being sought for existing projects on the Brazilian side. The call will focus on two topics:

1. “Indirect electrification - the production and use of so-called green hydrogen/PtX” - the Brazilian government is currently developing a national hydrogen project under the leadership of the Brazilian Ministry of Energy (MME).

2. “Direct electrification” - a project starting in 2023 will focus on the direct substitution of fossil energy sources in urban transport and industry with electricity generated without emissions.

Please find further information on these topic here.
