Dr. Rebecca Schlieckmann

Dr Rebecca Schlieckmann earned her Master of Teaching degree from Griffith University (Australia), where she received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence. After completing her teacher training (Referendariat) and obtaining her second state exam, she worked at the Universities of Vechta, TU Dortmund, and Paderborn before joining the TEFL team at the University of Münster in 2021. That same year, she completed her PhD—an empirical study on English language teachers’ beliefs regarding English education at the time of transition from primary to secondary school. From 2024 to 2025, she served as Associate Deputy Professor at the University of Wuppertal.

Her postdoctoral research follows a design-based research approach and focuses on fostering oracy at the time of transition. Together with English teachers, she is collaboratively developing an alternative oral assessment format that promotes communicative competence and continuity between primary and secondary English education.

Having trained in Germany, England, and Australia, she is passionate about teaching as well as learning with and from future English teachers while fostering meaningful connections between ELE research and classroom practice.
