Merle Marie Bergmann

After spending a year abroad in Australia following her Abitur, Merle Bergmann studied English, German and Educational Studies for secondary school teaching (Gymnasium/ Gesamtschule) at the University of Münster. Alongside her studies, she completed the university's certificate program in Teaching German as a Foreign/ Second Language and gained valuable intercultural experience through various school internships, including one in The Gambia, West Africa. During her studies, she also worked as an educational assistant at a secondary school.

Merle joined the English Language Education team at the University of Münster as a research assistant and lecturer in October 2025 and is pursuing her PhD in the field of Global Englishes. Her research interests include Global Englishes Language Teaching (GELT) as well as anti-racist language education.
