Merle Marie Bergmann

After spending a year abroad in Australia following her Abitur, Merle Bergmann studied English, German and Educational Studies for secondary school teaching (Gymnasium/ Gesamtschule) at the University of Münster. Alongside her studies, she completed the university's certificate program in German as a Second Language and gained valuable intercultural experience through various school internships, including one in The Gambia, West Africa. During her studies, she also worked as an educational assistant at a secondary school.

Merle joined the English Language Education team at the University of Münster as a research assistant and lecturer in October 2025 and is pursuing her PhD in the field of Global Englishes. Her research interests include Global Englishes as well as anti-racist language education.
