The Eagles Have Landed: “Mathematics Münster” and “Religion and Politics” Submit Renewal Proposals in the Excellence Competition
With the timely submission of their renewal proposals to the German Research Foundation (DFG), the University of Münster’s two Clusters of Excellence – Mathematics Münster and Religion and Politics – have reached a major milestone in Germany’s ongoing Excellence Strategy. Following months of intensive academic work, strategic planning, and conceptual development, the clusters have now presented two ambitious proposals that underscore their commitment to internationally visible, top-tier research.
The review phase is now underway: Over the coming months, international expert panels will evaluate the proposals. Final funding decisions are expected in May 2025, with the new funding period scheduled to begin on January 1, 2026, in the event of a successful outcome.
The Future Lab supports both Clusters of Excellence throughout the entire competitive process, serving as a central hub for strategic consultation, coordination, and administrative support.
