The UNIcert® Basis certificate corresponds to level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Prerequisites Admission depends on prior knowledge (see options below).

Each semester

Course hours 12-16 SWS (depending on previous knowledge and choice of option)
Organization & fees

The courses are sequential and must be completed in the order specified in the study regulations. The certificate is issued upon request once all compulsory courses have been successfully completed. The final grade is the average of all compulsory course grades.

The UNIcert® Basis certificate can be requested during the respective coordinator’s office hours.

A fee of 10 € will be charged. Once you have received confirmation from the respective coordinator that the requirements for the requested certificate have been met, you can choose between two payment methods online via INDICO. Registration on INDICO using your University ID (UNI-Kennung) and password is mandatory for the certificate application.

To apply for a certificate or to register for a UNIcert® examination, please contact the respective coordinator via email. Upon successful completion of your courses, please attach the application form and the required course certificates to your email or submit them in person during office hours.

    Option I (2 semesters)

    1. Niveau A1: Deutsch ohne Vorkenntnisse (Schnellkurs+) / German for Beginners (Fast-track Course+)
    2. Niveau A2: Deutsch mit Vorkenntnissen (Schnellkurs+) / Pre-Intermediate German (Fast-track Course+)

    Option II (4 semesters)

    1. Niveau/Level A1.1: Deutsch ohne Vorkenntnisse, Gruppe A/B / German for Beginners, Group A/B (4 hrs/week)
    2. Niveau/Level A1.2: Deutsch mit geringen Vorkenntnissen, Gruppe A/B / Elementary German, Group A/B (4 hrs/week)
    3. Niveau/Level A2.1: Deutsch mit Vorkenntnissen 1, Gruppe A/B / Pre-Intermediate German 1, Group A/B ( 4 hrs/week)
    4. Niveau/Level A2.2: Deutsch mit Vorkenntnissen 2, Gruppe A/B / Pre-Intermediate German 2, group A/B (4 hrs/week)

    Option III (3 semesters)

    1. Niveau/Level A1.2: Deutsch mit geringen Vorkenntnissen, Gruppe A/B / Elementary German, Group A/B (4 hrs/week)
