UNIcert®, foreign language qualification in higher education

The UNIcert® certification programme is a uniformally regulated certification of foreign language competency in and beyond Germany, which is relevant for future graduates (visit the UNIcert® website) and is regarded as a seal of quality for the training, testing and certification of foreign language skills, as well as the ability to use a foreign language effectively in the context of university studies and academic careers. UNIcert® is provided by the work group Arbeitskreis der Sprachenzentren (AKS) (homepage of the AKS) who introduced the programme in 1992.

The Sprachenzentrum at the University of Münster offers the certificate programme on the levels UNIcert® Basis (level A2 according to the CEFR), UNIcert® I (level B1), UNIcert® II (level B2) and UNIcert® III (level C1), and for various languages (German as a foreign language, English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish).

Application procedure, fees, and payment process

Please read all information on these pages carefully before contacting the coordinator for your target language (and specific level, only relevant for German).

To apply for a certificate or to register for a UNIcert® examination, please contact the respective coordinator via email. Upon successful completion of your courses, please attach the application form and the required course certificates to your email or submit them in person during office hours.

Once you have received written or verbal confirmation from the responsible coordinator, you can register via INDICO and proceed with the payment.

A fee of 10 € is charged for UNIcert® Basic, I, and II certificates. For UNIcert® III, the fee is 40 € – payable upon admission to the examination.
