Biography
Tammela Platt brings over 15 years of experience in international adult education to her work at the Language Centre, in both English langauge teaching as well in the coordination and delivery of projects in the non-profit and higher education sectors. In 2010 she completed her Bachelor's degree in English literature at Oberlin College (USA) and then spent two years as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine, where she taught English as a foreign language to children and adults.
During a six-year stint in London (UK), she completed her Master's degree in English literature (University College London) and also achieved CELTA and DELTA qualifications. From 2014-2019 she worked in the non-profit sector in London, where she taught English to migrant adults and coordinated community projects and partnerships.
Between 2019 and 2024 she worked as a freelance lecturer for Business English, academic English and professional English for students and university staff at various higher education institutions in Germany (including the University of Münster and the Cologne University of Applied Sciences).
From 2024-2026 she was employed as a Language Coach for university staff in Examinations Offices at the English Support Services (Supportstelle Englisch) at the University of Münster Language Centre.
Since 2025 Tammela Platt has been working as a Coordinator in the Language Centre, covering Dr. Nicola Huson's role.
