Students who, due to a disability or chronic illness, are unable to complete their coursework or examinations as required have the opportunity to apply for compensation for disadvantages. This can apply to coursework and examinations (including those completed during the semester) as well as written assignments for the final degree program. General information on compensation for disadvantages can be found here.
If you would like to apply for compensation for disadvantages, you must complete the "Form: Compensation for Disadvantages" and submit it to the Service Center. You can find this form here under the "Other" tab. All documents must be submitted to the Service Center no later than three weeks after the start of the registration period (QISPOS/SLcM).
After your application has been reviewed, you will receive an invitation to a consultation with the Compensation Officer, the program coordinator, and the examiner for the sport for which compensation for disadvantages has been requested.
Please contact the Rectorate's Compensation Officer only after receiving this notification if you do not believe your disadvantage has been compensated. Registration in QiSPOS/SLcM should only be made after signing the agreement for compensation for disadvantages, otherwise the examination and academic performance requirements that were valid for all students at the time of registration will apply.
Please note the following when submitting an application:
The adjustment for disadvantages must be designed in such a way that the specific learning disability is compensated for and the principle of equal opportunity is met as fully as possible. This is not about lowering performance requirements, but rather about a different – but equivalent – design of the performance requirements. The goal is to appropriately address the individual problem without reducing the academic requirements and to individually adapt the performance assessment, e.g., in terms of time, space, technology, or personnel.
After the application is approved, the Examination Office's application and the data protection declaration must be submitted to the Examination Office. These can be found on the Examination Office's website [de].
