Research at the psychotherapy outpatient clinic
The Psychotherapy Outpatient Clinic for Children and Adolescents (PTA KiJu) is an operating unit of Department 7 at the Institute of Psychology at the University of Münster and is affiliated to the Work unit of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents (Head: Prof. Dr. Tanja Hechler).
We stand for a triad of 1) evidence-based psychotherapy for children, adolescents, young adults and their caregivers, 2) modern and innovative psychotherapy research and 3) high-quality teaching and training for prospective psychotherapists.
Current research projects are described here.
What does this mean for patients at the outpatient psychotherapy clinic?
In our psychotherapy outpatient clinic, we help affected children, adolescents, young adults and their caregivers with modern and well-researched treatment methods. We collect important information and data in order to closely monitor the course of treatment and adjust the therapy goals and methods if necessary. In accompanying research projects, we also want to understand why and how well therapies work. In addition, we want to use these research outcomes to continuously improve our range of therapies. In doing so, we pay very close attention to the protection of personal data and the the families' privacy.
