My declared goal is to make a substantial contribution to the mental health of children and adolescents through innovative research, with enthusiasm, together with students and young researchers and in cooperation with children, caregivers and mental health care institutions.

Since 10/2022, Prof. Dr. Hechler and her growing team are establishing the work unit and the university outpatient psychotherapy clinic for children and adolescents.

The central goal of the work unit is the conception and implementation of innovative prevention and psychotherapy research in children and adolescents. The research is translational, transdiagnostic and developmentally focused. The university outpatient psychotherapy clinic for children and adolescents  is part of the work unit. It stands for innovative and evidence-based psychotherapy for children and adolescents with three major aims

  • Short intensive psychotherapy for children and aolescents
  • Regular psychotherapy
  • Research-based psychotherapy

Knowledge transfer and exchange with other university departments as well as educational and practice insitituions is a central concern of the work unit.
