The EU 1.5° Lifestyles project aims to contribute to the mainstreaming of lifestyles in accordance with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5° climate target. In pursuit of these objectives, the project connects quantitative footprint analysis, qualitative analyses of individual lifestyle perspectives at the household level, and inquiries into the effects of political, economic, societal, and technological structural barriers and enablers. On this basis, the project develops concrete guidance for policy makers, intermediary actors, and citizens. With the financial support of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, the Consortium of partners from nine EU countries under the leadership of the University of Münster thus addresses one of the biggest challenges of our lifetime, climate change, and contributes to the pursuit of the European Green Deal. Tackling this challenge is urgently necessary, not only from an environmental, but also from a justice perspective, as the contributions and vulnerabilities to climate change are distributed highly unevenly both across and within societies and generations.
