On 14 September 2026, the Center for Data Science and Complexity (CDSC) and ZIN at the University of Münster will host the workshop “AIM for Sustainability” at GEO 1 (Heisenbergstr. 2) as part of the “AIM for Science” initiative. Two ZIN members, Dr. Anne Mollen and Prof. Dr. Benjamin Risse, will also contribute to the workshop with their respective inputs.

The workshop is aimed at researchers at the University of Münster, explicitly including doctoral researchers and postdocs. It seeks to bring together researchers from different disciplines, provide fresh impulses, open up new perspectives, and thereby strengthen research using AI methods for sustainability at the University of Münster. While Prof. Benjamin Risse will speak on “AI for Sustainability, Sustainability for AI,” Dr. Anne Mollen will offer a critical perspective with her contribution “Coopting Green AI – The Pitfalls of AI for Sustainability.”
