Thermodynamic modeling in realistic mantle compositions using free energy minimization techniques 

Based on a series of workshops (run and organized by Nina Simon and JC Afonso) we developed a new and improved thermodynamic model which enables us to calculate phase relations in depleted (and in fertile) mantle compositions. A recent paper (Klemme et al. 2009, Lithos 112) uses this model to calculate garnet compositions in several depleted bulk compositions.
Together with Luca Ziberna, who visited us in Muenster in 2012 for a few months, we developed an upgraded version of the model. This resulted in a joint paper, which was published in "Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology".
