MEET Spin-off E-Lyte Innovations Awarded NRW Start-up Prize

Second Place for Pioneering Electrolytes

The second prize of this year's Start-up Prize “Gründerpreis NRW” goes to E-Lyte Innovations GmbH from Münster. The spin-off of MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Münster received the 20,000 euro award from Mona Neubaur, Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The company develops and produces customized electrolytes for modern and innovative energy storage systems.

“A great award for the Münster-based start-up and an important sign for battery research,” says Prof. Dr Martin Winter, Scientific Director of MEET Battery Research Center, Director of Helmholtz-Institute Münster, a branch of Forschungszentrum Jülich and co-founder of E-lyte, congratulating his co-founders Dr Ralf Wagner, Dr Stephan Röser, Dr Kolja Beltrop and their team on the award. In 2019, E-Lyte emerged as the first spin-off from MEET Battery Research Center.

With the “Gründerpreis NRW”, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia honors successful founders, successors and freelancers for the eleventh time. First place went to Unigy GmbH from Essen, SalesViewer® GmbH from Bochum came third. With prize money totaling 60,000 euros, the NRW Founders' Prize is one of the most highly endowed competitions in this field in Germany.
