Sexual discrimination, harassment and violence
One out of three women in Germany experiences physical and/or sexual violence at least once in her lifetime. And it happens to women of every age and social class – violence is a societal problem, and it does not stop at the doors of the University. In August 2015, the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency published an expert opinion on sexual harassment in the university context. Based on empirical data, it confirmed that sexual harassment and violence had become a “shockingly normal” everyday experience, especially for women, but also for men who exhibit feminine or homosexual characteristics.
