Application and Selection
Typically, German research institutes are not able to provide PhD scholarships. For applicants with other financial sources, we have an Open Call (see below), which is ongoing without a deadline. However, sometimes were are able to provide PhD scholarships. In such cases, we publish a Specific Call with slightly different procedures and deadlines.
Specific Call - two PhD scholarships, open topic, deadline December 3, 2023

Funding: The salary is a stipend of 2.000 euro/month. Furthermore, the semester fees will be covered. For international applicants, we can also cover one flight ticket to Germany. The intended duration of the position is 36 months. The initial scholarship contract is for 14 months. The contract will be extended to the full 36 months in case of a positive evaluation of achieved milestones so far, i.e., the successful defence of an updated dissertation proposal in month 12. |

Description: The Graduate School for Geoinformatics offers up to 2 scholarships for PhD students with open topics. Although the PhD topic is suggested by the applicant, such a topic should be LINKED to the research area of one of the potential supervisors (see also research labs).
