On Thursday, June 25th 2026, the research dialogue "Controversial Topics in (Digital) Public Spheres – What is fueling debates today, and what role does academia play in this?" took place at Faculty 06. It was moderated by Prof. Dr. Julia Metag and Dr. Florian Wintterlin with participation of Prof. Dr. Ana Larissa Oliveira (Brazil Chair Visiting Professor in Münster), Prof. Dr. Helena Stehle (Institute of Communication Science), and Dr. Tobias Albrecht (Institute of Political Science). They explored how the emergence and transformation of controversial topics can be described as discursive patterns, how organizations handle sensitive issues, and how these topics can be situated politically and philosophically.
