Author information and publication process "Writings from the House of the Netherlands"

1.  Publication enquiry
Please submit a request for publication in the series to the series editors, FID Benelux or the staff at the Service Point for Publication.

2. Initial information
You will receive all information and any relevant documents relating to the publication.

3. Publication commitment
If the editors decide to include your work in the series, your contact details and initial information about the publication will be forwarded to the staff at the Service Point for Publications and the Publisher Waxmann Verlag.

4. Submission of all documents relevant to publication
Once you have received confirmation that your work will be published in the series, please submit the latest version of your manuscript, your contact details (postal address, telephone number and email address), and the completed metadata form to the staff at the Service Point for Publications and Waxmann Verlag.

5. Publication contract
Once you have submitted the contact details form and the metadata form, we will conclude the publication contract for the series "Writings from the House of the Netherlands" [de] (sample) with you. Waxmann Verlag will also enter into a publishing contract with you for the print edition. The work may need to be formatted before this contract can be finalized. 

6. Formatting
You will receive the relevant formatting guidelines in advance. If desired, the publisher can format your work for an additional fee. 

7. Review by the editors
You send the final version of your manuscript to FID Benelux or to the person(s) on the editorial board responsible for editing in this particular case. Once the proofreading has been completed, any comments and suggested corrections will be returned to you for review and incorporation. As a rule, the first round of corrections is followed by a second, in which the incorporated changes and any remaining comments are checked one last time.

8. Final proofreading and creation of the master files by Waxmann Verlag
The standard services included in the publishing contract also comprise final proofreading of the foreword and introduction, checking that all lists are consistent, a random check of the bibliography, verification of image and graphic files, and checking line and page breaks.
Following formatting and proofreading, Waxmann Verlag will create the master files for publication.
You will check these master files and give your approval.

9. Creation of the miami files
Staff at the Service Point for Publications prepare the online publication based on the publisher’s version. To do this, the book cover (front and back) is combined with our title pages and the book block. Before the miami file is finalized, all internal links (e.g. directory links) and external hyperlinks are checked and corrected where necessary. At this stage, we will invoice you for our service fee of EUR 100, which we will send to you by email.

10. Printing of the books
Once the manuscript has been approved, Waxmann Verlag will handle the preparation of the print files, the printing of the trade edition and the publication of the e-book.

11. Publication of the online edition and completion of the project
The online edition will be published on miami. The electronic version will be submitted to the “Verzeichnis lieferbarer Bücher” (VLB).
You will receive a final email from us containing details regarding the digital publication and the listing of the publication on our website, as well as information on the VLB submission and the registration of the publication with VG WORT.

12. Delivery and distribution of printed copies
Ten deposit copies must be submitted to us for publications within the series, these are usually supplied by the publisher or by you. Upon receipt of the trade edition, we distribute the copies as follows: one copy remains in our archive, one copy goes to the library at the 'House of the Netherlands', and eight copies are entered into the Germany-wide library exchange scheme. By submitting these eight exchange copies, you are eligible to participate in the VG WORT distribution.
