Queere Religiosität: Empirische Untersuchungen der individuellen Religiosität und strukturellen Inklusion von sexuellen und geschlechtlichen Minderheiten in Deutschland

The Queer Religiosity project examines the religiosity of sexual and gender minorities in Germany as well as structural changes in the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches. The first empirical study analyzes the extent to which structural inclusion is practiced, at what level of ecclesiastical level it occurs, and what role queer religious activism plays. Using a mixed-methods design and a neo-institutionalist perspective, it shows that formal inclusion is implemented more frequently than practical inclusion. The influence of queer activist associations is stronger in the Protestant Church than in the Catholic Church. The second study, “QueeRel,” examines the individual religiosity of queer people. Based on Huber's centrality scale of religiosity, it shows that LGBTIQ* people are less religious than the majority population. An influence of queer-inclusive measures on individual religiosity could not be confirmed.
