42nd Symposium of the Society for German-American Studies in Indianapolis, Indiana, 19–21 April 2018

The Society for German-American Studies (SGAS) will hold its 42nd Annual Symposium in Indianapolis, Indiana, 19–21 April 2018. The theme of the program is: World War I and Its Repercussions for German America: A Centennial Assessment. Professor Dr. Jürgen Overhoff and Nicholas Johnson will take part with the following paper presentations:

  • "Trenches in Los Angeles: All Quiet on the Western Front, The Road Back, and How the American and German Film Industries Depicted World War I During the 1930s" (N. Johnson)
  • "William Penn and the Germans - A Story of Friendship and Religious Freedom: Healing the German-American Trauma of World War I by Remembering Pennsylvania’s Early History" (J. Overhoff)
