Chemistry students develop startup ideas

This summer semester, the Institute of Business Chemistry offered again the "Innovation & Entrepreneurship" module as part of the Master's program in Chemistry. The focus was on developing original startup concepts, which students worked on in small teams before presenting them in the form of pitches.
Supported by the REACH EUREGIO Start-up Center, participants explored in depth how chemical developments and research findings can be assessed for market readiness and economic feasibility. In the process, they not only generated creative ideas but also developed suitable business plans and learned how to systematically evaluate entrepreneurial potential. The module fosters a business-oriented mindset and demonstrates ways to successfully market one's own ideas. At the same time, it strengthens key competencies such as teamwork, presentation skills, and strategic thinking.
A particular emphasis is placed on the intersection of natural sciences and business: through interdisciplinary work, students sharpen their awareness of societal and industrial needs. Furthermore, they gain insights into the fundamentals of founding and financing startups.
