Welcome to the Center for Social Skills (CeSoS)

Social skills are key qualifications for a fulfilling and successful life. But what exactly are social skills? How can they be assessed and developed? And which social skills are particularly relevant in certain professions?

The Center for Social Skills (CeSoS) deals with these and other questions in the areas of research, training and transfer.

In current projects and collaborations, we are focusing on the further development of social skills in aspiring medical professionals and psychotherapists.

Online masterclass with Dr. Simon Breil on March 2, 2026

Continue your education during your lunch break with masterclasses from the University of Münster Professional School! Speakers provide concise information on topics from a wide range of fields. The lectures are aimed at anyone interested, professionals at all career levels and in all industries, as well as alumni and current students.
In this masterclass, Dr. Simon Breil explains what can be meaningfully understood by “social skills” and how the term can be structured in such a way that it becomes manageable in a professional context.  He divides social skills into distinct sub-areas and discusses which of these are particularly relevant in different roles and situations.  One focus is on how social skills manifest themselves in behavior: Which observable indicators actually indicate competence, and which are more likely to be sympathy?
