AI in teacher training

It is important that basic ideas about technology, application and social aspects of ML and AI methods are already addressed in the everyday school life of young people.

Within the courses offered in the module "AI and teacher training", materials for teacher training will be elaborated, which can be used in different subject areas. Specific tutorials are to be developed that introduce students to ML and AI, and that can later also serve as teaching material and be worked on with pupils in schools (e. g.,  in working groups or in in-depth lessons). Not only technological aspects are to be considered, but also ethical and societal questions, which shed light on the potential and the dangers of AI research and AI application.

In the module "AI and Teacher Education", these aspects are first addressed in the two courses "Structures and Concepts of Physics" and "Didactic Reconstruction of Selected Topics of Current Physics Research".

Structures and Concepts in Physics

This course deals with topics relevant for teaching at schools in the field of nonlinear physics, ML and AI, cybernetics and self-organization in natural phenomena. The course is intended for bachelor students for the teaching profession at secondary schools (Haupt-, Real-, Sekundar- and Gesamtschule) in the 4th semester.

The course takes place every summer semester (30 h/2 SWS). The required materials are provided on Learnweb.

Didactic reconstruction of selected topics of current physics research

This course deals with material analysis, didactic analysis, modeling and elementarization of selected current research topics including results of student conceptualization research. The course is aimed at master's students for the teaching profession at grammar and comprehensive schools from the first semester.

The course takes place every semester (30 h/2 SWS). The required materials will be provided on Learnweb.
