We would like to sincerely thank all participants, speakers, poster presenters, and supporters for their contributions and engagement. The many conversations, new connections, and academic impulses made the CDSC inauguration a truly inspiring and successful start.

On 9 February 2026, the Center for Data Science and Complexity (CDSC) celebrated its official inaugural event at the Castle of the University of Münster. Under the motto “Connecting Disciplines Through Shared Methods”, researchers from a wide range of disciplines came together to discuss shared methodological approaches in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning, mathematical modelling, scientific computing, and complex systems.

The event provided a platform for interdisciplinary exchange among researchers who apply or develop these methods or investigate their theoretical foundations. The aim was to highlight methodological interfaces, foster new collaborations, and strengthen networking within the University of Münster.

A particular highlight of the programme was the series of high-profile keynote talks, which presented current developments and perspectives from different areas of research. The programme was complemented by an extensive poster expo and networking session, offering numerous opportunities for academic discussion, the exchange of new ideas, and the initiation of collaborative research projects.

The strong response from the university community demonstrated the great interest in interdisciplinary dialogue on data-driven and model-based research. At the same time, the event provided an opportunity to learn more about the CDSC and its diverse activities in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer.

With this successful inaugural event, an important foundation has been laid for the further development of a vibrant network of researchers connected through shared methods, jointly shaping the future of data- and model-driven science at the University of Münster.
