The CDSC offers events on data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, as well as on complex and nonlinear systems, partly in collaboration with academic departments and other research centers and institutions.

The program ranges from colloquia and lecture series to conferences and workshops and addresses a variety of audiences—from a specialist academic audience to a broad, interested public.

An overview of the current program can be found on our website. Alternatively, you can stay informed about upcoming events by subscribing to our mailing list.

CDSC Colloquium

At the CDSC Colloquium, internal and external researchers regularly present current work in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, as well as in mathematical modeling and the study of complex and nonlinear systems.

The colloquium is primarily aimed at a specialist audience but is open to all interested participants.

CDSC Schnittstellen

In technical systems, interfaces are essential for the exchange of information. The "CDSC Schnittstellen" lectures build on this idea by presenting insights from modern research on data, artificial intelligence, and complexity in an accessible way and bringing them to a broad, interested public.

No prior expertise is required — curiosity is all you need.

AIM for

"AIM for" is the interdisciplinary workshop series of the “Artificial Intelligence Münster for Science” initiative. It connects researchers at the University of Münster who use artificial intelligence and machine learning in their research or whose work may benefit from these methods in the future, and is enriched by contributions from external experts. Each edition focuses on a scientific topic in which AI opens up new methodological approaches.

In the summer term 2026, we will launch the series together with our colleagues from the Otto Creutzfeldt Center with the workshop AIM for the Brain. Further information will be provides here shortly or via our mailing list.

Windows to Complexity

"Windows to Complexity" is an interdisciplinary workshop format designed to foster internal and external networking in the field of complex systems. It focuses on theoretical, model-based, and data-driven approaches to the analysis of complex and nonlinear systems in nature, technology, and society. Each edition focuses on a scientific topic that opens up new perspectives on complex and nonlinear systems.

Our Windows to Complexity workshop series will be launched in 2026. Further information on upcoming topics and dates will be available here or via our mailing list. Stay tuned.

Public Lecture Series

In the winter semester 2025/26, the interdisciplinary lecture series “Hach, alles ist komplex! Zur Vielgestaltigkeit von Komplexität in Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft und Kultur” will take place.
It is organized by the Center for Philosophy of Science and the CDSC and is aimed at a general audience.

Online participation requires prior registration! Information about this and the full program can be found here.
