Co-funded Short-Term Research – DAAD Funding for Brazilian PhD Candidates with a Local Scholarship

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers doctoral candidates at Brazilian universities the opportunity to carry out a funded research stay of two to six months at a university or non-university research institution in Germany. Applicants must hold an ongoing domestic PhD scholarship from CAPES or one of the 23 participating FAPs.
The programme supports research projects that are part of a PhD to be completed in Brazil and requires coordination with an academic supervisor in Germany. In addition to the Brazilian scholarship, the DAAD provides a monthly co-funding grant. The funding duration is determined based on the research project and cannot be extended.
Research stays can take place between May 2026 and January 2027.
Application deadline: 9 September 2025
