Position announced: The Faculty of Biology has announced an Assistance Professor position in Green Biotechnology, with tenure track option as a successor of Prof. Moerschbacher

Today, the newly created position for an Assistant Professor of Green Biotechnology at our institute has formally been announced. As usual, this position is initially limited to a period of six years, with a mid-term evaluation. But what is still unusual at German universities is the option of converting the position into a permanent employment after positive evaluation at the end of this period, i.e. tenure track. The Faculty of Biology can offer this option because then, Prof. Moerschbacher will retire so that his position will become available. Of course, following established and successful tradition in the German university system, the research field of the successor is completely independent of that of her or his predecessor so that it can be anything, as long as it belongs to the area of Molecular Plant Biotechnology. What counts is “scientific excellence” – such as a successful track record of having published in “good” journals and of winning external research funding, creative ideas not simply following the main-stream of current thinking, an interest in not only understanding things, but also in using the new knowledge in the interest of society and industry, in the context of the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy. And not least, our hope is to find a young scientist with complementary expertise who will open up new opportunities for collaborations within our Institute, our Faculty, our University, and beyond. Who knows, we may be looking for YOU! The deadline for applications is August 31st. If you think this could be interesting for you, do not miss out on this opportunity.
