Finally another group excursion and a new group picture at the Bauern-Olympiade

Today, our group finally had another group excursion after no such event last year due to the pandemics. Now that we are (almost) all vaccinated, we can safely meet again – though we are still being careful. Our master students had prepared breakfast for us in the inner courtyard of the institute, and then we went by bike to Amelsbüren, for the Bauernolympiade. We had splendid sunshine the whole day, and we were all a bit exhausted after having met so many challenges: from throwing rubber boots to milking a cow (fortunately for the cow, she was made of plastic), from blind-foldedly navigating a slalom while getting directions from someone pushed along in a wheelbarrow to identifying ten different cereals (well, not all of them really cereals). Four groups of five to six people were competing and in the end, it was a close call – with a proud winner nonetheless. And “farmer Werner” took group photographs into which we will now have to insert the unlucky few who had not been able to join. Back at the institute, we then had a long and lecker barbecue, again organised by the Master students, with a salat buffet like in the good old days. A huge “thank you” to all who contributed to the perfect day!
