Farewell-party of Dr. Philipp Lemke

Today, Philipp invited the whole group to his farewell party in the inner courtyard of the institute. Philipp has been one of our “oldest” group members, he joined our lab for the first time during his Master studies in 2013! In 2015, he was heavily involved in organizing the EUCHIS/ICCC meeting – the best ever international chitin and chitosan conferencehere in Münster. He became a member of the first Indo-German Public-Private Partnership “2+2” project, working for his Master and doctoral projects on the biostimulant activities of chitosans. After obtaining his Dr.rer. nat. in 2019, he continued as a post-doc, supporting different projects of the group, and finally succeeded in winning support for his own project in collaboration with our alumna Rebecca Melcher’s start-up Bex-Biotec – Algen-KI – in which he is currently investigating structure-function relationships of algal extracts. This is our first project involving Artificial Intelligence – exciting prospects! During his time with us, Philipp took over so many different roles and duties that it is impossible to list them all. We will probably find out only when he has left. Because he and his wife are planning a one-year tour around the world – even more exciting prospects! His work in the Algen-KI project will be taken over by our alumna Dr.Naivy Nava who just returned from Mexico to re-join our group. How we will fill the other gaps he will be leaving, we do not know yet. Philipp – a million thanks for all the good work, your enthusiasm, your reliability, your creativity, your spirit, your courage. We are already looking forward to following your travel blog. Stay in touch and visit us when you are back!
