Conference INSECTSplus on alternative protein sources with focus on insect proteins

From May 12-14, Margareta Hellmann visited the first "INSECTSplus" conference, jointly organized by the German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL) and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB). Kindly invited by the DIL, she used the three days to connect with scientists from the insect bubble, get an inside view into insect farming, and understand the current state and the challenges of this promising industry. Apart from interesting talks and presentations, there were various opportunities for nice chats and a great conference dinner to enjoy. That the conference took place in Margareta's home town Cloppenburg in rural Lower Saxony was a pleasant surprise! The AG Moerschbacher is happy to hear that this "INSECTSplus" was only the first of many meetings of the international insect community and hopes to contribute to sustainable insect farming with expertise in chitin and chitosan, as well as plant growth promotion and protection.
