Online Vortrag und Diskussion mit Olimpia Lombardi (Universidad de Buenos Aires and CONICET)

Prof. Olimpia Lombardi wird am 14.11.2023 via Zoom einen Vortrag zum Thema "A modal ontology of properties for quantum mechanics" halten. Am 16.11.2023 wird es zudem eine offene Diskussionsrunde zum Vortragsthema mit Prof Lombardi und Ihrem Mitarbeiter Juan Camilo Martínez González geben.

Das Abstract des Vortrages lautet wie folgt: In this talk I will introduce an ontology of properties for quantum mechanics, according to which quantum systems are not individuals, but bundles of the type-properties represented by the observables of the system. In this ontology, indistinguishability is no longer a relationship between individual particles, but an internal symmetry of a system as a whole, and the symmetry of states is not the result of an ad hoc symmetrization, but is
due to ontological reasons, that is, to the very structure of the ontology itself.

Prof. Lombardi ist Superior Researcher of the University of Buenos Aires and of CONICET
(National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina). Director of the Group of Philosophy of Sciences of Buenos Aires. Research Associate of the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Member of the Executive Committee of the International Society for the Philosophy of Chemistry (ISPC), of the
Academie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences, of the Foundational Questions Institute, and Charter Honorary Fellow of the John Bell Institute for the Foundations of Physics. Member of the Editorial Board of the journals Philosophy of Physics, Foundations of Physics, and Foundations of
Chemistry.
