Course on Conflict & Crisis Management

Developing Management and Personal Skills focusing on Conflict and Crisis Management

In today’s globalized world, professionals must manage crises—such as pandemics, disasters, and emergencies—while addressing conflicts in diverse communities and organizations. This course builds skills in crisis and conflict management, emphasizing support for vulnerable groups. Topics include conflict resolution, crisis communication, emergency leadership, and strategies to foster resilience and stability.

When: 07 November - 22 November 2025 (2 evenings during each week + Fridays afternoon)

Registration: Please register here (registration deadline is October 15th, 2025). Please note that this course has a limited number of spots (5 for Ulysseus participants). Applications will be evaluated based on the motivation provided, and applicants will be informed of the selection results and next steps accordingly.

Course Content: 

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of crisis and risk management principles and strategies.
  • Explore crisis prevention, preparedness, and response in various sectors, including public, social, and health organizations.
  • Study practical applications through real-world examples of conflict and crisis situations.

  • Learn to address the needs of diverse and vulnerable populations in crisis scenarios.

Please note that this course is offered by the Ulysseus partner university MCI - The Entrepreneurial School. All students enrolled in courses at Austrian higher education institutions are required to pay a mandatory Austrian Student Union (ÖH) membership fee. In addition, MCI charges a small administrative fee to cover organizational services and course-related support. Both the Austrian Student Union (ÖH) fee and the administrative fees together make up EUR 50. After registration and successful admission to the course, students will receive an invoice from MCI covering both the Austrian Student Union (ÖH) fee and the administrative fee. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded an official Microcredential Certificate.

SMILE study programme - Sustainable Management in Life Sciences & Engineering 

SMILE combines specific and interdisciplinary training in the areas of sustainability management in life sciences with complementary training offered at each partner university and training in high-level digital skills, languages, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship as key transversal skills to provide solutions to global problems.

To achieve the learning outcomes, the co-creation group established a 120 ECTS study programme, divided into two years (4 semesters, 30 ETCS each), with three main parts (the “Core semesters”, the “specialisation semester, and the “getting into the sector semester”).

From the structural point of view, SMILE begins with two core semesters including physical mobility. Students then choose a specialisation according to their preference and finish the programme by writing a Master Thesis.

1st semester: Foundations of Sustainable Management at MCI

2nd semester: Consolidation and general principles of Sustainable management at HSWT

3rd semester: Specialisations:

– Specialisation 1: Sustainable Food Systems, (University of Sevilla)
– Specialisation 2: Marine Conservation & Blue Economy (Université Côte D’Azur)
– Specialisation 3: Environmental Hazards & Risk Management (Université Côte D’Azur)
– Specialisation 4: Sustainable Agriculture (University of Montenegro)

4th semester: Thesis semester
