“A New Approach to Apparatus Gymnastics” at the DVS Congress in Marburg
A First in Marburg: At this year’s DVS Congress, Sarah Dittrich had the opportunity to present her new book, *Gerätturnen neu gedacht* (Reimagining Apparatus Gymnastics), for the first time in a presentation of her own.
Attendees didn’t just listen—they got right to work: They were able to try out selected approaches and exercises firsthand and actively engage with the practical components of the book. The presentation thus offered a wonderful blend of academic exchange and hands-on experimentation and generated a great deal of interest. Particularly gratifying were the many stimulating conversations, the positive feedback, and the numerous new connections made during the conference.
The conference also provided many exciting discussions, new connections, and valuable insights. It was an all-around successful premiere that demonstrated: Artistic gymnastics can be reimagined—and, above all, experienced together.
Dr Samuel Tickell presents research at the 34th European Sport Management Association Conference
Dr Samuel Tickell from the Social Sciences of Sport presented his research at the prestigious EASM Conference in Thessaloniki, one of the leading international gatherings for sport management researchers. His presentation examined how sustainability is reshaping motorsport, while established structures continue to influence the sport’s development.
The conference also featured research involving Dr Tickell on the Rubiales–Hermoso case and digital event leveraging. Bringing together leading scholars from around the world, EASM 2026 provided an important platform for presenting cutting-edge research, exchanging ideas and strengthening international collaboration in sport management.

Successful Transfer Workshop for the “FemPower” Project
On May 27, 2026, an online transfer workshop was held as part of the project “Political Activism and Athlete Participation in Elite Sports,” featuring Prof. Dr. Henk Erik Meier and Dr. Mara Konjer (Department of Social Sciences). The project’s findings were presented during a two-hour online transfer workshop. Tabea Kemme (former professional soccer player, TV expert), Mareike Miller (DOSB and Athletes Germany Executive Committee, Paralympic champion), and Dr. Kristin Behrens (Executive Board Member of the German Athletics Association) participated in the subsequent panel discussion. They provided fascinating insights into their own experiences and offered recommendations for action for athletes and federations. HERE you find the project page.
