Multi-verb Constructions in Bangla: Syntax and Semantics of Packaging information of Events

This study will investigate the Information Structure (IS) in relation to the Multi Verb Constructions (MVC) in Bengali. I will look into the interaction between syntax and information structure in Multi Verb Constructions in Bengali. Under the multi verb constructions, my study will specifically investigate the packaging of information in Bengali multi verb constructions mainly in the Reduplicated multi-verb constructions and in the phenomenon of Scrambling in the multi-verb constructions. The basic word order in Bengali is subject, indirect object, direct object, verbs. But the ordering of words, phrases, and clauses in Bengali is fairly flexible. Syntactic elements appear in various positions, creating nuances such as backgrounding or emphasizing certain information. This phenomenon is often called Scrambling. Verbs and their modifying light verbs generally occur adjacent to each other, with the light verb following the participle; it is possible for them to be shuffled around. I will try to find a grammatical system of informational PACKAGING in Bengali and also is there any link between information structural categories like topic, focus and contrast and that system of informational packaging?
