Invitation: Active Hope Cafés

Four sessions from July to September | Kreisl-Kiste at Domplatz

In cooperation with ZIN, the Psychologists for Future Münster are hosting four “Active Hope Cafés” from July to September 2026. Two ZIN scholars, Dr. Daniela Pastoors and Clarissa Lang, are also involved in organizing and facilitating the events.

Active Hope understands hope not as something one either has or does not have, but as an active attitude and practice: Together, we create space for everything the state of the world evokes in us, discover new perspectives, and strengthen ourselves for the steps we want to take.

In a relaxed atmosphere, the cafés invite participants to make space for their own thoughts and feelings about the state of the world, exchange ideas with others, and experience a sense of connection. The Active Hope Café provides a safe and appreciative setting. Short impulses create opportunities for reflection, connection, and mutual support.

The four sessions follow the Active Hope Spiral from Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects:

  • 9 July: Gratitude
  • 30 July: Honouring Our Pain
  • 20 August: A New Perspective – with Dr. Daniela Pastoors
  • 24 September: Moving Forward

Location: Kreisl-Kiste at Domplatz (except 24 September; location to be announced)

Time: 7:00–8:30 p.m.

Registration: Not required

Contact & enquiries: muenster@psychologistsforfuture.org

The Active Hope Cafés build on one another in terms of content, but can also be attended independently. Each session has a defined beginning and end, providing a supportive and contained setting. Before and after the session, there is time to arrive, connect informally, and let the experience resonate.

Everyone is welcome – regardless of whether you are already politically active, whether you arrive with feelings of despair, hope, or determination, and whether you come alone or with others. You can bring whatever is moving you and perhaps leave feeling a little more connected, hopeful, and strengthened.
