Conference “Multidisciplinary perspectives on growth in the context of sustainability” - Registration now open

Interdisciplinary symposium on May 12 and 13, 2025 at Franz Hitze Haus, Münster

In cooperation with the Akademie Franz Hitze Haus, ZIN is organizing a conference on the topic of “Multidisciplinary perspectives on growth in the context of sustainability - on the exchange of social and natural science approaches”. The conference starts on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 1:30 pm and ends on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 3 pm. Registration is now open.

Is economic growth indispensable for the economic functioning of a society? Does the paradigm of the necessity of perpetual economic growth prevent a serious examination of the urgently needed ecological transformation towards sustainability? Or is economic growth even necessary in order to “manage” this transformation?

The interdisciplinary symposium will explore these and other questions relating to the tension between growth and sustainability. Both social and natural science perspectives will be included. Practical challenges at the interface of growth, sustainability and (green) business start-ups as well as communication strategies and offers in the field of sustainable consumption are also on the program. You can register for the conference here.
