Environmental Ethics from a Christian and Buddhist Perspective

Participation in the conference on December 17 and 18 at Schloss Münster (Senatssaal) possible

On December 17 and 18, the Japanese-German conference on “Environmental Ethics from a Christian and Buddhist Perspective” will take place at the Schloss, organized by ZIN researcher Jun.-Prof. Dr. Markus Rüsch. ZIN researcher Prof’in Dr. Simone Sinn will also be participating in the conference. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend the conference in person at Schloss Münster or online.

Sustainability in general and environmental protection in particular are two of the most pressing issues of our time. Religious actors are also concerned with these issues. In many ways, they shape strategies for the implementation of technical measures or the opening and design of spaces for discourse. The scientific examination of the associated questions is not new in the context of religion-related research on Christianity and Buddhism, but also beyond. However, it can be said that both interreligious and—regarding religious studies and theology—interdisciplinary work represent important desiderata of research.

The conference “Umweltethik aus christlicher und buddhistischer Perspektive" (Environmental Ethics from Christian and Buddhist Perspectives) is dedicated to the topic of environmental protection and sustainability in the context of religious research on Christianity and Buddhism. Presentations in German and Japanese are intended to encourage intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue on topics related to environmental protection. All contributions are available in both languages and the discussions will be interpreted consecutively.

The conference is open to all interested parties. Further information and the program can be found on the conference Website. No registration is required to attend in person, but online participation requires registration by email to umwelt2025@uni-muenster.de.
