New podcast episode of ‚Fokus Frieden’ with Prof. Dr. Anne Käfer

On 27 December 2024, a new episode of the podcast ‘Focus on Peace’ was released with ZIN member Prof. Dr. Anne Käfer as a guest. The podcast episode is dedicated to the topic ‘Peace on a plate? Diet between ethics and ecology’. Protestant theologian Prof. Dr. Anne Käfer focuses her research on animal and environmental ethics and analyses Protestant theological perspectives on the coexistence of humans and animals in her work ‘God's work and flesh’s lust’. Dr. Marco Springmann, a senior researcher at Oxford University's Environmental Change Institute, is also a guest, researching the effects of our diet on our own health and planetary boundaries. Together they talk about animal ethics, planetary boundaries and discuss the questions of what food has to do with religion and climate change.

The podcast ‘Fokus Frieden’ has been run by the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate since 2020. Its founders, ZIN member Dr. Rebecca Froese and Julia Renner, continue to run it even after moving to other institutions, together with Christopher Rohles from the Peace Academy. In each episode, the presenters talk to an expert about a current topic to understand conflict and peace dynamics, focus on the potential for peace and create spaces for action for peaceful transformation processes.

Since the start of the second season in September 2023, the ZIN and the interdisciplinary scientific journal ‘Wissenschaft und Frieden’ have been cooperating partners of the podcast. As part of this cooperation, ZIN scientists from various disciplines will be regular guests on ‘Focus on Peace’ in the future.
