Martin Winter elected as President of IMLB

The leading international conference of lithium battery research "International Meeting on Lithium Batteries" (IMLB) has a new president. At the end of June, Prof. Dr. Martin Winter was elected as chairman of the IMLB. The battery researcher rose to his new position from his previous role as designated congress president and Vice President.

Since 1980, the IMLB conference has been held every two years in various host countries. Over time, it has established itself as the world's most important conference on lithium batteries. It regularly comes up with top-class speakers, an exciting programme and around 2,000 international attendees from science and industry.

After a successful conference in June this year in Kyoto, the next IMLB will take place in Germany's capital Berlin. In 2016, a team from the MEET Battery Research Centre of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU) won an international competition with Germany as host country for 2020. "It is a special pleasure for me to accompany the conference during my term as IMLB President in Germany," said Winter.

The conference is organized by the Helmholtz-Institute Münster (HI MS), which has been conducting battery research in Münster in close cooperation with MEET since 2014.
