Studiobühne

Since 1961, the university has had a permanent theater at Domplatz 23, the Studiobühne, a professionally equipped small stage with 140 seats. Several ensembles rehearse and perform here, some for decades. In addition to classical plays from Shakespeare to Heiner Müller, many of the theater's own plays have an experimental character; there are also stage radio plays and recitation programs. The series "Stunde des Wortes" (Hour of the Word), which has been in existence since 1949 and cultivates the art of speech, can look back on hundreds of events.

The studio stage is currently home to five theater ensembles (English Drama Group, theater en face, Recitheater, Reaktanz, Lautsprecherei).

In addition, the Studiobühne is booked by various cultural and theater groups as well as associations and institutions for cultural events, panel discussions or readings. This results in a diverse program that reaches different target groups.
