

Wissenschaftler*innen des IfK auf der 11. European Communication Conference in Brünn vertreten
(04.09.2026) Die 11. European Communication Conference (ECC) der European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) findet vom 8. bis 11. September 2026 in Brünn, Tschechien, statt. Unter dem Leitthema „Shifting Grounds: Paths, Connections, and Futures“ bringt die internationale Tagung Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaftler*innen aus Europa und darüber hinaus zusammen. Auch Wissenschaftler*innen des IfK sind mit mehreren Beiträgen auf der Konferenz vertreten.
Mit ihrem Leitthema greift die ECC 2026 gesellschaftliche, politische und technologische Umbrüche auf, die Medien und Kommunikation zunehmend prägen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, welchen Beitrag die Kommunikationswissenschaft angesichts globaler Herausforderungen wie Klimawandel, geopolitischen Konflikten, gesellschaftlicher Polarisierung, digitalem Wandel und demokratischen Rückschritten leisten kann. Dabei rückt die Konferenz insbesondere die Entscheidungen, Verbindungen und Zukunftsperspektiven in den Fokus, die für die Weiterentwicklung des Fachs und seine gesellschaftliche Relevanz entscheidend sind.
Die Konferenz wird von der ECREA ausgerichtet und von der Masaryk University in Brünn veranstaltet. Neben Plenarveranstaltungen und Keynotes umfasst das Programm zahlreiche parallele Fachsessions und Postersessions aus unterschiedlichen Bereichen der Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft. Die European Communication Research and Education Association wurde 2005 im Rahmen der ersten European Communication Conference in Amsterdam gegründet und geht aus dem Zusammenschluss der European Communication Association (ECA) und des European Consortium for Communications Research (ECCR) hervor. Als wissenschaftliche Fachgesellschaft fördert die ECREA die Kommunikationsforschung und -lehre in Europa und bietet mit ihren thematischen Sektionen, Netzwerken und Arbeitsgruppen verschiedene Plattformen für den fachlichen und internationalen Austausch.
