Congratulations! Ceremony for 61 Graduates at the Münster City Palace

(February 3rd, 2020) Last Friday, the Münster Department of Communication (IfK) celebrated 61 graduations. Four doctorate, 29 master graduates and 28 bachelor graduates received the congratulations of Prof. Volker Gehrau, managing director of the IfK.

Starting with a welcoming and short introduction to the field of Communication Science and the IfK, Prof. Gehrau lead the guests through the evening. The Ceremony was musically accompanied by the Merida Quartet.

As every year, the graduates’ families and friends were given some insights into the departments’ research. This time, Prof. Bernd Blöbaum gave a talk on the “An Intense Relationship. Taz (“The Daily Newspaper”) and its readers”. Since 1993, he conducts surveys among the readers of the german daily newspaper taz. In his talk, Blöbaum presented some results from the latest eight surveys, conducted by his master students in the second half of 2019. The results show that there is a very close – and emotional – relationship between the readers and the various printed and digital taz content. Also, readers of the printed version of the newspaper appear to be open towards digital transformation. The research project delivers crucial insights for the product development at taz.

Further, Tim Schatto-Eckrodt introduced the MedienAlumni Münster e.V. Amongst other activities, the association honors the best master’s thesis every year.
Then, one bachelor and one master graduate gave a personal review of their years of study at Department of Communication.

During the final flower ceremony, all graduates received the managing director’s congratulations and the obligatory flower.

Congratulations to all graduates in the name of the IfK staff!
