Abstract
In recent years, sustainability has become a central topic in discussions about societal transformation. Companies in particular are under great pressure to meet political requirements and societal expectations for sustainable transformation. Even if management is committed to organisational sustainability transformation, the support of employees is also needed to accomplish organisational transformation projects. Internal sustainability communication (ISC) plays an important role in this. In addition to supporting organisational transformation processes, ISC is believed to have the potential to motivate employees to adopt sustainable everyday behaviour.
The research project sheds light on ISC, which has received little attention in research on PR and organisational communication to date, and analyses its fundamental conditions and forms of implementation. It also reflects on the potential of ISC in supporting organisational and, more broadly, societal sustainability transformations.
