You will find information here how our BAFöG officers at the Institute for Computer Science can assist you.

Form 5

Our BAföG officers for students of computer science and students in a dual-subject Bachelor's programme with computer science as one subject (Zwei-Fach-Bachelor) can issue certifications in accordance with Form 5 (BAföG after the 4th semester). If you require this, please send us:

  • the digitally completed BAföG Form 5 (the turquoise-green section must be completed – link last tested in Sep 2025) – no photos or scans!
  • a current transcript of records – please ensure that all passed courses are already entered!
  • if applicable, notes/explanations regarding any semesters of leave or similar that affect the number of semesters

To have the certificate issued, please send an email to bafoeg.informatik@uni-muenster.de with the specified information and PDFs. Incomplete documents cannot be processed and will lead to delays.

Important: The BAFöG office informed us in 2024 that students must provide evidence after the end of the 4th semester of all prescribed examinations in accordance with the examination regulations, and thus at least 120 LP, in order for us to certify compliance with the standard period of study. We have no discretion – we are only allowed to check against the criteria of the examination regulations. Unfortunately, there is therefore no chance of success in complaining about the criteria to us.

If you have not completed the required credits, we can only certify that fact. However, the BAFöG office may make decisions on a case-by-case basis. Students who do not have the necessary credits can speak to the advisors in the BAFöG office. Under certain circumstances, you may be asked to contact the academic advisory service. They will check whether it is still possible to graduate within the standard period of study, which we can then also certify. The BAFöG office can then decide on the continued payment of BAFöG on that basis.

Form 10

We can also issue a certification for Form 10. Your case worker at the BAFöG office will explain the exact procedure to you. Fill out the form digitally and attach a current transcript of records. Please contact us at bafoeg.informatik@uni-muenster.de to send us the documents.
