For non-French speakers – whether students, employees or researchers – the Department of French as a Foreign Language [en] (DEFLE) offers courses in French as a foreign language for all levels within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF).

Laut Ehemaligen ist es möglich, Kurse an anderen Instituten zu belegen, z. B. aus den Bereichen Literatur oder Kommunikationswissenschaften. Auch ist es möglich, als Bachelorstudent*in Masterkurse zu belegen und andersherum.
