R2 is now PCI-friendly
What is PCI?
PCI stands for Peer Community in and is a free recommendation process of scientific preprints. Once a preprint is recommended, authors can choose to publish their article with (PCI friendly category 2 or PCI interested) or without (PCI friendly category 1) further peer review in participating journals. PCI allows for transparent quality assurance of scientific articles and reverses competition in that journals and not authors compete against each other.
How are PCI-recommended preprints treated?
Specifically, there is the option for PCI-recommended preprints to be accepted without further peer-review. As category 2 PCI-friendly journal, we will inform authors within five days about our decision:
- Acceptance with minor modifications and with no further peer-review.
- Need for further peer-review or other checks before decision.
- Not interested.
Recommended preprints need to meet R2's scope (e.g., be replications, reproductions, or related contributions) and - as all articles - will undergo a reproducibility check and optionally a social responsibility evaluation prior to publication. Specifically, we are a category 2 PCI-friendly journal for PCI Psychology, PCI Neuroscience, and PCI Organization Studies. In case of acceptance, published articles will include an editors' note that they were reviewed by PCI. In the near future, we also plan to become PCI-friendly for PCI-RR.
